A spokesperson for former Vice President Al Gore denied rumors in an Asian newspaper about the Oscar-winner's presidential plans in 2008.
"He is heavily booked with work and engagements through the Fall," said Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for Al Gore, when contacted via e-mail by RAW STORY. "His position on 2008 has not changed."
Gore, who won an Oscar this year for his global warming-centered documentary An Inconvenient Truth, was said in a Taiwanese newspaper to have canceled all events for the next six months in preparation for a presidential run next year.
"Former US vice president Al Gore will not be able to make it to Taiwan this September to address the issue of global warming, Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Tien Chiu-chin said yesterday," according to an item in the Taipei Times. Tien, who invited Gore to visit Taiwan to promote awareness on global warming, told reporters yesterday that she received an e-mail from the Harry Walker Agency, which has the exclusive right to arrange Gore's speeches, saying that Gore had canceled all his scheduled events in the next six months. The visit to Taiwan had been postponed to next year, she added. Tien said the reason for the cancelation [sic] was that Gore was considering a presidential bid."
Kreider said there was no truth to the report and that the Taiwanese paper had not contacted her office for comment.
The Harry Walker Agency was not available at press time for comment.
The Tennessee native, who served alongside President Bill Clinton from 1992-2000 and was defeated in the 2000 presidential race after the Supreme Court stopped a recount of ballots in Florida, is currently preparing for a series of concert events around the world called Live Earth.
Several conservative blogs, including the National Review Online's Corner and Captain's Quarters reported on the Taipei Times item uncritically.

The former U.S. vice president, whose documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth" about global warming won two Academy Awards this year, faces persistent speculation that he might make a run for the White House in the November 2008 election.
"I'm not planning to be a candidate again for office," Gore told Reuters on Thursday, repeating a now familiar denial at the launch of a "call to action" for Live Earth concerts around the world on July 7 to focus attention on climate change.
"I'm involved in a different kind of campaign to spread awareness of the climate crisis and the way to solve the climate crisis," he said.
"If this campaign is successful, it will put pressure on all of the candidates for every office in all parties to do the right thing on the climate."
Gore -- a Democrat who served under President Bill Clinton and narrowly lost the disputed 2000 election to the current Republican president, George W. Bush -- said it was too early to comment on the possible impact of a third-party presidential candidate in next year's election.
Many observers blame Green Party candidate Ralph Nader for siphoning votes from Gore and helping Bush win in 2000.
"There are 500 days between now and the U.S. presidential election, and it's way too premature to speculate on anything," Gore said.

There is also another college drop out , loser and an old lady “Susan Madok” have joined them to create a Partisan political Draft gore movement , which nobody cares because Al Gore will never be drafted by anyone.

Text of Al Gore Speech - Blasts Bush for 'Dangerous Breach'Washington DC - Jan 16th 2005 - (Political Gateway) - Text of Al Gore speech at Constitution Hall in Washington DC.Congressman Barr and I have disagreed many times over the years, but we have joined together today with thousands of our fellow citizens-Democrats and Republicans alike-to express our shared concern that America's Constitution is in grave danger.In spite of our differences over ideology and politics, we are in strong agreement that the American values we hold most dear have been placed at serious risk by the unprecedented claims of the Administration to a truly breathtaking expansion of executive power.As we begin this new year, the Executive Branch of our government has been caught eavesdropping on huge numbers of American citizens and has brazenly declared that it has the unilateral right to continue without regard to the established law enacted by Congress to prevent such abuses.It is imperative that respect for the rule of law be restored.So, many of us have come here to Constitution Hall to sound an alarm and call upon our fellow citizens to put aside partisan differences and join with us in demanding that our Constitution be defended and preserved.It is appropriate that we make this appeal on the day our nation has set aside to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who challenged America to breathe new life into our oldest values by extending its promise to all our people.On this particular Martin Luther King Day, it is especially important to recall that for the last several years of his life, Dr. King was illegally wiretapped-one of hundreds of thousands of Americans whose private communications were intercepted by the U.S. government during this period.The FBI privately called King the "most dangerous and effective negro leader in the country" and vowed to "take him off his pedestal." The government even attempted to destroy his marriage and blackmail him into committing suicide.This campaign continued until Dr. King's murder. The discovery that the FBI conducted a long-running and extensive campaign of secret electronic surveillance designed to infiltrate the inner workings of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and to learn the most intimate details of Dr. King's life, helped to convince Congress to enact restrictions on wiretapping.The result was the Foreign Intelligence and Surveillance Act (FISA), which was enacted expressly to ensure that foreign intelligence surveillance would be presented to an impartial judge to verify that there is a sufficient cause for the surveillance. I voted for that law during my first term in Congress and for almost thirty years the system has proven a workable and valued means of according a level of protection for private citizens, while permitting foreign surveillance to continue.Yet, just one month ago, Americans awoke to the shocking news that in spite of this long settled law, the Executive Branch has been secretly spying on large numbers of Americans for the last four years and eavesdropping on "large volumes of telephone calls, e-mail messages, and other Internet traffic inside the United States." The New York Times reported that the President decided to launch this massive eavesdropping program "without search warrants or any new laws that would permit such domestic intelligence collection."During the period when this eavesdropping was still secret, the President went out of his way to reassure the American people on more than one occasion that, of course, judicial permission is required for any government spying on American citizens and that, of course, these constitutional safeguards were still in place.But surprisingly, the President's soothing statements turned out to be false. Moreover, as soon as this massive domestic spying program was uncovered by the press, the President not only confirmed that the story was true, but also declared that he has no intention of bringing these wholesale invasions of privacy to an end.At present, we still have much to learn about the NSA's domestic surveillance. What we do know about this pervasive wiretapping virtually compels the conclusion that the President of the United States has been breaking the law repeatedly and persistently.A president who breaks the law is a threat to the very structure of our government. Our Founding Fathers were adamant that they had established a government of laws and not men. Indeed, they recognized that the structure of government they had enshrined in our Constitution - our system of checks and balances - was designed with a central purpose of ensuring that it would govern through the rule of law. As John Adams said: "The executive shall never exercise the legislative and judicial powers, or either of them, to the end that it may be a government of laws and not of men."An executive who arrogates to himself the power to ignore the legitimate legislative directives of the Congress or to act free of the check of the judiciary becomes the central threat that the Founders sought to nullify in the Constitution - an all-powerful executive too reminiscent of the King from whom they had broken free. In the words of James Madison, "the accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny."http://www.electgore2008.com

Al Gore was inaugurated as the 45th Vice President of the United States on January 20, 1993. President Clinton and Vice President Gore were re-elected to a second term in 1996, and Vice President Gore was sworn in again on January 20, 1997. Together, they have led this country into the longest period of sustained economic growth in American history — marked by 22 million new jobs, and real incomes rising for the first time in a generation.
Vice President Gore serves as an advisor to President Clinton, a Cabinet member, President of the U.S. Senate, a member of the National Security Council, and head of a wide range of Administration initiatives.
Vice President Gore was born on March 31, 1948, and is the son of the late U.S. Senator Albert Gore, Sr. and Pauline Gore. Raised in Carthage, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C., Vice President Gore received a degree in government with honors from Harvard University in 1969. After graduation, he volunteered for enlistment in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Returning to civilian life, Vice President Gore became an investigative reporter with The Tennessean in Nashville. He attended Vanderbilt University Divinity School and Vanderbilt Law School.
Vice President Gore began his career in public service in 1976 when he was elected to represent Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives (1977-1985). He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984 and was re-elected in 1990 (1985-993). A candidate for the Democratic nomination for President in 1988, he won more than three million votes and Democratic contests in seven states.
Vice President Gore is married to the former Mary Elizabeth “Tipper” Aitcheson. They have four children: Karenna (born August 6, 1973), married to Drew Schiff; Kristin (born June 5, 1977), Sarah (born January 7, 1979), and Albert III (born October 19, 1982). The Gores also have one grandchild — Karenna and Drew’s son Wyatt, born last summer on the Fourth of July.
Vice President Gore owns a small farm near Carthage, and the family attends New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage.
